The Jewish Roots of Lent
Sunday, February 21, 2021
7- 8 PM
Online through Zoom and Facebook
On Ash Wednesday Christians began the penitential season of Lent. A period of forty days of fasting, prayer and almsgiving to prepare for the event of the sacred three days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter. Judaism, the religion of Jesus, holds the key to understanding many of the signs, symbols and meanings of the events of those three days. For example, fasting, prayer, almsgiving, the number forty, penitence or shuvah are all among the roots of Jewish spirituality. Join us on Sunday as we discuss this sacred season of Lent within an interfaith framework.
