The activity of Haggai can be dated to c. 520 BCE in the post exile era and under Persian rule. Beset with various problems,

Haggai was a force in completing the building of the second Temple. The Book of Haggai exhorts the Jews to finish the building and his attempt to deal with their discouragement after it was finished.
