Parashat Beha’alotecha

Igniting the Eternal Light

In this recorded Shabbat teaching, Rabbi Gadi Capela explores Parashat Beha’alotecha and the sacred task given to Aharon, the High Priest: lighting the candles of the Menorah.

The Torah’s language suggests more than simply kindling a flame. The Hebrew word beha’alotecha points to the act of “elevating” the candles — lifting the light upward. Through Torah and Kabbalah, Rabbi Gadi reflects on the deeper spiritual meaning of the Menorah and the candles as symbols of the human spirit, faith, and the soul’s longing to rise toward Heaven.
