SUMMARY:Project Exodus: Sunday\, March 15 @1:30 pm
DESCRIPTION:Join Rabbi Gadi and Father Roy as we explore the Book of Exodus – Chapter 24 \nThe Foundation of the Sanhedrin \nSpecial Guest Rabbi Chaim Berger \nSunday\, March 15\, 2026 \n1:30 – 3 PM ET \nat \nSt. Mark RC Church \n105 Randall Rd.\, Shoreham\, NY 11786 \nThis month we will explore Exodus Chapter 24\, a powerful moment in the biblical story.  Just before the construction of God’s Sanctuary begins\, God establishes the first council of elders—the foundation of what later becomes the Sanhedrin and the rabbinic tradition.  At the very moment when the Divine presence prepares to dwell among the people\, a system of spiritual leadership and justice is also created. \nThis Sunday we will have the pleasure of welcoming my dear friend from my yeshiva days\, Rabbi Chaim Berger\, who will add his commentary. \nRabbi Berger was raised in Brooklyn\, Rabbi Berger’s family has been part of the American Hasidic community for over a century coming from a distinguished line of Hungarian Hasidic rabbis\, tracing back to the Baal Shem Tov—the founder of Chasidism\, Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk\, and the Sanz and Ropshitz dynasties. He studied in Hasidic yeshivot in New York and Israel. He lived in Monsey\, where he taught in several Jewish schools and was active in the community for many years. Today he serves as the rabbi of a growing Jewish community in Casa Grande\, Arizona.

SUMMARY:Shabbat Teachings: The Shabbat of the Congregation
DESCRIPTION:Double Parasha – Vayakhel Pikudei \nThe Shabbat of the Congregation \nWhen Moses congregates all the people around the completed Tent of Meeting \nSaturday\, March 14\, 2026 \nZoom at Noon \n\nZoom link: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/945492769?pwd=VVdLbVA0cURuM1hMUkFRZDM0M3hkQT09 \nMeeting ID: 945 492 769 \nPasscode: 496419 \n  \n“Vayakhel” means “gathering.” Moses assembles the People of Israel after the completion of the Mishkan—the Tent of Meeting—the first form of the Temple\, the sanctuary of God among the people. Now that the Mishkan and all its components are finished and brought to Moses\, he erects it and anoints it with the sacred anointing oil. \nAt this moment\, Moses reiterates the importance of observing Shabbat. Just as the Tent of Meeting is a sanctuary in place\, Shabbat is a sanctuary in time. In both\, the entire congregation can come together in holiness. \nThen a cloud appears over the Mishkan\, signifying the Shekhinah—the Divine Presence that has come to dwell among the people. \nJoin us as we explore these ideas this Shabbat. \nShabbat Shalom! \nRabbi Gadi

SUMMARY:Shabbat Teaching - Building the House of God on Earth
DESCRIPTION:Please join Rabbi Gadi for Shabbat\, February 21\, 2026 – Parashat Terumah—Building the House of God on earth. \nSaturday at noon on Zoom (link below) \nZoom link: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/945492769?pwd=VVdLbVA0cURuM1hMUkFRZDM0M3hkQT09 \nMeeting ID: 945 492 769 \nPasscode: 496419 \nHow do we build a heavenly footstool for God on earth?  Last Shabbat\, we explored the foundations of justice—the courts and ethical systems that God commands us to establish so that He can dwell among us.  Justice creates the conditions for God’s presence in society. \nThis Shabbat\, we take the next step.  We turn our attention to the sanctuary itself: how do we create a space—physical\, communal\, and spiritual—that can hold God’s glory?  What are the structures\, intentions\, and behaviors that invite God to feel “at home” among us? \nWe will reflect on the mechanisms of holiness—how human action\, care\, and responsibility transform ordinary spaces into sacred ones\, and how we make God truly welcome in our midst. \n

SUMMARY:Project-Genesis Fundraiser in Westhampton\, Sun. Sept 22\, 2-5PM
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an exciting Project-Genesis Fundraiser in Westhampton! \nSunday\, September 22\, 2024\, 2:00-5:00 PM \nCatered (kosher) and hosted at the home of Beverly and Ken Gelb \n34 Brushy Neck Lane\, Westhampton\, NY 11977 \nBring your bathing suit or tennis racket if you’d like! \nBe part of the creation of a timely documentary about the indigenousness of the Jewish people to the Middle East in general and the land of Israel in particular. It will feature Rabbi Gadi Capela’s family from Yemen and Jews from other Arab countries. \nBased on Rabbi Gadi’s experience as a graduate student at \nColumbia University this past year\, we hope to dispel the notion that Jews are foreign colonialists. \n\nThis documentary is part of the larger work of Project-Genesis\, related to its efforts in promoting peace in the Middle East through interfaith education and pilgrimages to the Holy Land. In the past few years\, we have also presented our Peace Proposal\, which focuses on the religious nature of the conflict in the region. \nWe are currently recording the first part of the film at The Yemenite Heritage Museum in Rabbi Gadi’s hometown of Rehoboth\, Israel. \nGuest speaker: \nDirector Yaniv Rokah\, known for his award-winning documentary\, Queen Mimi.  He will be speaking about his vision of creating our documentary film in these difficult times. For more information about his work\, visit https://www.masmasproductions.com. \nRSVP by Sept. 15th. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP here
